Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 3rd-grade students are eager to continue learning and enjoying their love for reading. I have recently introduced them to graphic novels from the public library. They enjoy the illustrations and the layout of the authors' word in the books. The graphic novels have provided students from diverse background, and learning abilities a continued love for reading.
My students come from an area in Texas that is of lower socioeconomic status and single-parent homes.
We have different family structures in our classrooms and our community. We have welcomed many students from Pakistan and Africa, along with many other places.
My Project
The 3rd-grade graphic novels will continue to sustain and continue my students love for reading. My classroom library is a place where my students feel free to read and enjoy their choice of books. The graphic novels have created an abundance of conversation amongst all my students. A reading frenzy is beginning in my 3rd grade classroom with graphic novels. As my library continues to be filled with graphic novels for all levels of readers the sky will be the limit for increasing student reading progress.
These books will allow my students to read independently, in a literacy circle, and at their own grade level.
Let the reading excitement begin with graphic novels!
