My students are predominately Hispanic and from a poverty stricken area of our town. Most students in my classroom have never heard about college from anyone in their family however, I have tried to inspire them to want to move to the next grade and continue their education without letting anything get in their way. I have planted the seed that college and a bright future is possible if we dream, set a goal, and do our part to make it happen. My students often sit and admire my college class ring when we are on the carpet reading. They say I want one of those rings. Can I get one? We discuss their dreams and how Kindergarten is the foundation to make them a reality. I do my best to help them see their full potential in everything they do. I want them to see that we all have different ways of learning and achieving but we all want the same end result, a future and education that no one can ever take away from us.
