Graphic Novels for Growing Minds

Help me give my students a collection of new graphic novels for our elementary school library.

My Project

At our elementary school, the library is a center of literacy and learning for roughly 500 students in grades PreK-5. We strive to create an environment where all students have access to diverse, interesting, and relevant texts.

We have a graphic novel section, but it's not large enough to meet the enormous level of student demand.

Graphic novels are by far the most popular types of books in our library, and students are constantly requesting new titles. However, our library runs on a small budget, and we don't always have the funding to purchase the books that kids want to read.

Additionally, many of the graphic novels that we do have in our collection are worn out from constant use. A large portion have been taped and glued back together numerous times, and some have had to be discarded after becoming irreparably damaged.

If funded, this project will allow for us to update our graphic novel collection with high-quality and popular titles. Some of the titles, like Sew Totally Nala and Fruitcake, are new student requests, while others, like Parachute Kids and The First Cat in Space and the Soup of Doom, will replace severely damaged copies of student favorites.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
