My Students

My students come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and the United States. They are enthusiastic, persistent learners. We work hard every day as scientists, artists, mathematicians, scholars, and friends.

At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color.

The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language. These students have the potential for greatness and a great need for resources.

My Project

I am requesting new, engaging graphic novels to build our classroom library including books like "Dog Man", "Cardboard Kingdom" and "Bad Guys" in Spanish. My students love getting lost in a book.

My students need a vibrant, modern, and engaging classroom library.

We are on our way to becoming great readers and your support is crucial to that goal. The more than 30 graphic novels in this project are going to have such a big impact on my students; titles like Science Comics and the Giants Beware trilogy and Toons graphic novels for my beginning readers will whet their appetites for these great books. I was also careful to select books that meet the range of reading needs for my students, from beginning readers to readers who are reading above grade level.

Books transport us to new worlds and give us new dreams to chase. "A book is a dream you hold in your hand," Neil Gaiman. My students are absolutely in love with books, and we need to keep building our classroom library. These books will be a perfect addition. Thank you for considering our project!
