My Project

The most effective way to improve reading is to read. The best way to encourage kids to read is with the right books! Like adults, kids want to read the newest books. They want to read the new graphic novels, start a new series, and books that are at their just-right level.

My students cheer when we get new books for our classroom library.

They fight over who will get to read the books first and quickly make a list of the order it will go around. I often don't see the books for weeks, as they are quietly passed from student to student each morning. These books, including Amulet and Big Nate, will create new excitement in my classroom. I chose new graphic novels by authors that my students already love, and two new series that will help my students get excited about reading!
