This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My students are working every day to build their reading skills. The best way for them to get better at reading is for them to read each day, and the best way to get them motivated to read is to provide them with books that they want to read.
Graphic novels encourage my students to read because they are so much fun! The pictures are colorful & entertaining, while providing important comprehension support. My students are adding to their vocabulary, building background knowledge, & strengthening other important reading skills, all while enjoying their favorite books!
