4th graders are curious, imaginative, persistent, and active. They love to make choices in their learning! One of the favorite choices they make daily is what books they will read. My goal is stock our classroom library with a range of high interest texts to support the love of reading.
Every 4th grader in our class loves graphic novels!
The graphic novels in our class are never on the shelf for long. Some students have read every single graphic novel in the classroom!
My Project
4th graders love to read graphic novels during their independent reading time. These books will be added to the classroom library for students to read daily. They'll provide a variety of genres in the students' favorite format: graphic novels! Once they are in our library, they will not stay on the shelves for long!
Graphic novels promote the love of reading and also support literacy development!
Graphic novels develop comprehension skills and vocabulary development. By merging visual media and text, they are encouraging students to think deeply as they make inferences. Many students read a wider range of texts when they are in a graphic novel format.
