Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is an inner-city school in which most of the population will be the first in their family to attend college. Many of my students are people of color and first-generation Americans like myself. Their parents work hard to provide a safe home environment for them with few resources.
Mathematics is a subject that many students struggle with.
As an educator, I am doing my best with distance learning. However, I am having a hard time going over student work as I tutor them via teleconferencing. It is hard for me to verbally assist them and write/demonstrate the mathematical processes at the same time. My students who struggle with concepts need both verbal and visual representations in an interactive platform.
My Project
Due to the pandemic, our school quickly transitioned to an online model for distance learning in this time of social distancing. I have been teaching my students online and have become very frustrated with my laptop. A fellow teacher told me about the Wacom Intuos Pro and it is what I need to be a more productive on-line educator.
The Wacom Intuos Pro is a graphical drawing tablet that I can attach to my laptop and use while I am tutoring students or creating teaching videos.
With this tablet, I can write out math problems, draw pictures and write notes while verbally explaining the concept being taught.
