Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a Title I elementary school in North Carolina. Most of them are bilingual, speaking English only at school. Many parents and families work two or three jobs to provide the basic necessities at home. They want the best education for their children and to help them as much as they can.
My students are hard-working, curious kids.
They enjoy all hands-on activities and have a variety of interests. Our class works well together and enjoys helping each other learn.
My Project
I am requesting dry erase markers, dry erase wipes, and electronic wipes to clean our computer screens. In our classroom, we have dry erase tables. My students love using markers to write on the tables! Each day, we practice writing our spelling words, phonics skills (word family words, long and short vowels), and addition and subtraction sentences. Since we practice these skills each day, we use a lot of markers. These markers will replace the markers that we wear out from daily use. The wipes will help us keep the tables clean each day. The electronic wipes will allow us to keep our Chromebooks clean. Each student was given a Chromebook at the beginning of the year. Students use them each day to complete activities on Seesaw, Lalilo (a phonics website), and Starfall (a reading website). Students also read and/or listen to stories online with our current literacy curriculum. These wipes will help maintain the computers and keep them as clean as possible.
