This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are a running team that participates in cross-country races, track & field meets, and road races. The distances we run range from 100m all the way up to 10k.
I remember one student telling me at practice this year that he didn't drink water the entire day!
Many of them don't drink water in the morning on race days and don't drink water before a race because they didn't bring water with them.
I hope that giving our runners water bottles will be one small step in helping them develop the habit of drinking water throughout the day. I think that if they just simply keep a water bottle in their book bag, they will likely remember to fill it up at the water fountain or the cafeteria. They can also refill it before practice. This is especially important when we run during the winter and parks' water fountains are turned off.
