Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 25 enthusiastic learners that love learning! We are a Title I school in a low socioeconomic neighborhood with limited resources. 100% of our students receive free lunches. The majority of my students are English Language Learners with a lot of curiosity and great ideas. They come from hard-working families that have at least two jobs. My students need the right resources and tools to help them master the academic standards in all areas and become successful scholars. Many of my students lack the much needed resources to start the school year off right as well as necessary materials to complete assignments/projects at home.
My Project
In order for my students to feel successful, they need access the much needed classroom supplies such as: crayons, scissors, markers, glue, pencil boxes to held their supplies and help them become organized scholars. The supplies are used all the time to complete in class assignments and special projects such as: book reports, lap-books and collaborative projects. Many times, students are unable to complete special projects, assignments or even homework because they do not have the necessary tools at home. My students will be able to use the supplies at home and school to ensure academic success..
It is extremely important for children NOT to feel as if they CAN'T complete an assignment at home or school because they lack of resources (which is completely out of their control) like markers, glue, crayons, scissors and pencil boxes for storage in the classroom to help keep organized.
I want my students to feel empowered and comfortable when completing work. I want my students to feel at ease when they say, "I don't have colors at home, may I borrow them?" Supplies should not be a roadblock in any childs' education.
