Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

What is the best part of every student's day? Recess of course! The kids look forward to playing with their friends at recess each day. It is so important for their academic development to have this time to run and enjoy the outdoors.

My school is a Title 1 campus (high poverty) with students of many diverse backgrounds.

The staff at my school work hard to provide these students with the love and support they need to succeed in school. My students are bright, creative children with so much potential for success.

My Project

The materials I am requesting are for the students to use at recess. It will actually be for the entire 4th grade at my school (over 130 students). Recess is the favorite part of the day for most of the students. We live in a warm climate, so we get to go outside for recess about 90% of the school year. The recess equipment gets worn out pretty quickly at our school. The equipment we are using right now was bought several years ago by our PTA. These students will be overjoyed to get brand new items.

Students today spend too much time indoors watching television and playing video games.

Playing outdoors is something that most of my students only get to do at recess each day. Over 75% of my students live in apartments and most aren't allowed to play outside because of safety reasons. Playing at recess is good for them both physically and mentally. Thank you so much for your help and support.
