Got Logic?

My students need Brainteasers! Logic Activities, a Sudoku game of Shapes and Colors, problem-solving practice cards, and math logic teaching materials to boost their logical thinking skills.

My Students

Do you remember working on logic problems in school? I remember them in high school and it is not a pleasant memory. My brain would not wrap around many of the logic problems. I had to work really hard to solve them. I have a group of elementary students who LOVE logic problems!

I teach a great group of gifted students who challenge me everyday!

Their thirst to learn is unbelievable. Last year I found a logic book in my classroom for grades 4-6. I needed to add to the math lessons for my first-through-third grade gifted students, so I thought why not try this book on them, but I did not tell them the grade level the book was intended for. They loved working on the logic problems! First, I would let them try to solve the problem on their own. When they had tried for a while, I would help them and walk them through how to solve a problem. Then I would let them work with partners to solve another problem. Sometimes they chose to work alone to solve the problem. It was amazing to watch them work. Sometimes they ran into a snag, but they continued on. Sometimes they hit a wall and would not go on. It was a great lesson in how far you can push yourself. When I finally reveled the level of the book, the students were so surprised and proud of themselves!

My Project

My students need Brainteasers! Logic Activities, a Sudoku game of Shapes and Colors, problem-solving practice cards, and math logic teaching materials to boost their logical thinking skills. I am fortunate that I get to work with the same group of students each year during their elementary school years. By adding logic games like Sudoku and other brain teachers from various grades to my classroom, I will be able to continue to challenge my students. I also want to be able to continue this each year, so that when they face those logic problems in middle school and high school, they won’t be afraid and they will have the confidence and skills to solve the problems.

You can help my students to become critical math thinkers by helping to fund this project.

Help my students to have the confidence to face challenges not only in math, but everyday.
