My Students

My students need hands-on math games. The games I have chosen for this project are a great way to reinforce what my students already learn in a pragmatic, commonsense way!

Many of my students come from different backgrounds here in the greater Los Angeles area, yet they work together every day as a group, helping each other learn and grow.

They have wonderful attitudes and smiles on their faces. They are eager to learn and teaching them is a true pleasure.

My Project

My first grade class is part of a wonderful school that, unfortunately, lacks the financial resources to provide each teacher with needed supplemental materials to enhance the education of our students. With your help, I will be able to inspire my students with a variety of math games that will help reinforce the skills they are taught. As they advance through elementary school, the skills they attain in first grade can often become monotonous. Utilizing these math games provides an excellent way to teach these basic skills in an enjoyable, yet practical way. I will be able to work in small groups, providing one-on-one assistance to students, while the rest of the class is engaged in meaningful practice. Without these vital materials, this would not be possible.

The fulfillment of this project will help tremendously towards my effort in strengthening my students' math skills.

First grade lessons and standards are very important for the foundation of a student's academic career. For many of my students, it is their first exposure to the basics of language arts, social studies, science and mathematics.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
