Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This school is a middle city school with students from many different economic and cultural backgrounds.

My students are asked to provide supplies that might be financially hard for them to get. Our school is a Title I school, and every donation goes a long way. Our students are driven to always do their best, but they struggle. They need financial and emotional support from their community to help them meet their true potential.

My Project

My students live on the south east side of a large city. To be honest some of them have never left that part of the city, let alone the state or country. When we are reading about things (even in our math worksheets) it often leads us down the road of “what is that, where is that, are you for real??” Conversation.

I want to give them the ability to explore and learn without feeling the impact of their location.

I may teach math but I also spend time with many students during lunch, before and after school AND during a homeroom class. These are the prefect opportunities to add culture to math and exploration. I would love to offer my students who have never left the city a VR look at the Galápagos Islands or Paris. Please help us fund this discovery project!
