My students are a diverse population of Kindergarten through fifth grade students in an elementary school in Denver, Colorado. We are an International Baccalaureate school that values hands on, project-based learning. Our students are curious, motivated learners who ask a million questions.
When Google Expedition came and visited our school the shrieks of joy, echoes of oooohhhhs, and delighted laughter filled our gymnasium and auditorium as students experienced in virtual reality sting rays, sharks, Leonardo DaVinci's machines, inside the human eye, and inside a tornado.
My Project
I work in an International Baccalaureate, low income, elementary school in the heart of Denver, Colorado. Recently, we had a visit from Google Expedition that gave all of our students the ability to see three-dimensionally what they were studying in science and social studies. It was out of this world!!
I want to have this technology available to our students whenever they need access to the Expeditions to support the concepts they are studying in class.
The program we participated in was spectacular, however for some classes the content wasn't time specific to what they were actually studying. If we had an Expedition set available at all times, teachers and students could access that material at the time that they are learning the content. Imagine visiting the fish in the ocean, watching a tornado, volcano, or earthquake, and exploring the solar system at the exact moment that you are learning about that content.
