Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
By teaching kindergarten, I get the exciting chance to work with students with mixed interests, differing abilities, and a wide range of goals. My inclusive kindergarten class has twenty four amazing students with a variety of needs, including; linguist, physical, social emotional, and academic.
We have built a community around honoring, encouraging, and supporting, and embracing our uniqueness.
We have learned how to honor our different cultures, encourage each other to persevere, support one another in reaching our goals (both academic and social emotional), and embrace our uniqueness through leadership, courage, caring, responsibility, perseverance, and fun!
My Project
My class is full of students who have the want and need to set and achieve goals! We are in school for 7 hours a day, during which my students must achieve their goals by sitting on hard traditional chairs that do not meet their active learning styles.
It's time that their seats match their learning styles!
Currently, we have a few flexible seating options but it is not enough to allow each student to choose where and how they want to sit. By having balance balls, wobble stools, and floor stability cushions as options, my students will have enough choices to choose the seat that best fits their seating needs. It's time to let every student choose the seat that will help them learn best!
