Help Us Build a Classroom Where Writing Comes to Life

This year, my goal is simple but powerful: I want my students to see that good writing is good thinking—and that their voices, their stories, and their ideas matter deeply.

To do this, I’m asking for tools that will transform our writing time into something more engaging, more interactive, and more meaningful.

I’m requesting a comfortable chair, a laptop desk, a document camera, and essential writing tools—not just to make teaching easier, but to bring writing to the heart of our classroom. These items will allow me to sit side-by-side with my students at the front of the room and model writing in real-time. We’ll write together, think together, and revise together.

More importantly, I want to create a space where students themselves take the lead. With the right setup, we’ll have “Spotlight Writers”—students who take over the document camera to guide their classmates through writing exercises. They’ll see their words projected as we workshop and celebrate their ideas as a class.

These materials might be labeled as “teacher items,” but they will center student voices and make our writing community stronger. With your support, we’ll build a classroom where every student learns that their words can shape the world.
