As a 12th grade team, we decided to change the way we have been offering courses. Students love when they can take electives because they get to choose a subject they like. We want that to work with every English 12 course we offer. We want students to pick an emphasis and learn the skills within a certain genre of literature. We need to completely create a new library of texts in order to have the different course offerings we are hoping to create. By letting students choose their class they we be more involved in their education and engage more fully in class. It is not a class students "have" to take- instead it is a class they chose to take, and get to read texts that interest them. This is help foster a love of reading and promote the power of choice within learning.
