My students need to be able to read about different people from our past that are on their reading level. They love every biography that I read but most are not on their reading level.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a high poverty school in rural Florida. They are growing and learning in a tight-knit, school community that is like a family. Some of the children are the third generation to come to my school. About 89% of the students at my school receive free or reduced rate lunch. My children don't come from homes that have everything that they need to be ready to learn. But that does not stop them from succeeding. They love learning and loving being at school. They are some of the sweetest children that I know with the biggest hearts.
My Project
These books will allow my students to choose a book to read about a person in our past. They love to read and this will enable the students to choose what they are learning about. Since these books are on their reading level, they do not have to wait until someone reads it to them.
My students will be more engaged in their learning since they get to choose the books that they read from a wide selection.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
