Our LLD classroom has such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Our classroom has a variety of 4th - 6th graders for the four core subjects. Some of our students are learning to read, write, and count. On the other hand, some of our other students are learning to summarize a short novel they have just completed as well as adding and dividing fractions with unlike denominators. We definitely have a range of abilities. But, one thing is for sure...we are a family that takes care of one another!
My Project
Learning money and those “pesky” decimals can get pretty confusing to anyone...especially students with learning differences. This is why practicing with money now is important for them now, so they can build on this skill for a lifetime. My students are learning not only educational skills but also life skills. A working cash register and other money-based centers will help them apply what they are learning in the classroom into action. My students will be able to add up their total purchases, find how much change they should receive as well as eventually learning tax and discount. I know that they will become even more engaged in learning with these hands-on and engaging tools. Thank you!
