Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have nine highly-motivated special education students. They come to school each day eager to learn. All of my students receive free and reduced lunch. Many come to school hungry and are grateful for a filling breakfast. Computers and tablets, therefore, are simply are not a priority for their parents.
Computer literacy is very important as my students enter Junior High School.
My students look forward to Junior High School, a chance to have new experiences with electives and sports. They will be expected to be able to navigate programs, type assignments, and complete internet research. Unfortunately, my students come from homes that do not have access to the internet. The Chromebooks will provide a positive introduction to their computer literacy.
My Project
Currently we share a computer cart between three classrooms. By adding these two additional Acer Chromebooks to the classroom, the students will be able to be more productive utilizing the district-required math and reading applications. Additionally they will be able to acquire research and typing skills they will need as they further their education.
It has been incredible to see the what my students are capable of once they given the technology and the time to use it.
I really appreciate your assistance in giving my students the tools they need to access information and to grow to be independent learners.
