Going Buggy for Books and Activities about Insects
My students need the Insects Activity Tub, Insects Book Library, and nonfiction books in order to learn about insects and how they impact the environment.
I have 17 students in my class. They enjoy opportunities to participate in collaborative learning activities. Students can often be found working on projects, games or experiments in teams of two or more students. Our classroom is rich with books and magazines, and my students enjoy browsing the book baskets to choose a good-fit book for independent reading. Student writing, work samples, and artwork line the walls of the classroom. The children enter the room ready for a day of fun and rigorous learning activities.
My students enjoy learning with hands-on and project-based learning experiences, especially if they involve experiments, art, or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) challenges.
They come from diverse backgrounds, and some come from families facing financial hardships. Several of the students take home bags containing food to help them through the weekend.
My Project
Bugs, Bugs everywhere! My students love to read about all of the wonderful creatures that surround us in nature. They love to look for bugs when we go outside for recess, and I can remember doing the same thing as a child.
These resources will allow students to learn about the life cycle of insects while also learning how these insects impact our environment.
The Insects Activity Tub will allow my students to participate in various activities to learn more about insects while completing reading, writing, math and science activities. The Insects Book Library contains five books that will be used along with the Insects Activity Tub. The students will use these books in collaborative activities designed to help students learn about bugs and the roles they have in our world.
The other books that I have requested will be used to supplement the insects book library. The students will be excited to spend a lot of time reading and exploring the books independently and collaboratively. Students will be able to use the Ultimate Bugopedia and other reference books to learn about insects from all over the world, and not just in our community. I cannot wait to see them going Buggy for these resources as we learn about all of the insects that are in our world!
