My Students

Our students come from diverse backgrounds spanning from multiple languages spoken at home, diverse economic levels, and various stages of learning. We are blessed to have a great community of parents and support staff who want to see our students thrive. We are a Title One, ESOL, and SPED site for our booming school district. We are one of the largest elementary school in our district. Our building serves as a gateway to creating the best educational experience for our students in an ever changing world and society.

My Project

Base 10 Blocks are perfect for varied levels of student math conceptual understanding. These differentiated math manipulatives are great for students to use during centers or stations as a part of a classroom meeting diverse brain development.

Not all brains are at the same level in math at one time, or even in one school year.

My students need additional support for the levels which they are at for each individual learner. Base 10 Blocks are math manipulatives which can be used to help us as teachers meet our students' levels of understanding of multiplication and division based on different ways to model mathematical practices.

Not all students love math, because they don't necessarily understand math. Unfortunately, I only have a few manipulatives in my room to make learning visible and meet the needs of the students. This makes it difficult to hit multiple students who are on different levels. These manipulatives would assist in our district-wide initiative for MTSS (multi-tiered support systems) implementation of math for the present and upcoming school year.

In addition to Base 10 Blocks, our students need visible learning created by the teachers and students to coincide with lessons taught in the district curriculum and align with state standards. Students with learning disabilities also need manipulatives to help abstract concepts come to life with real tangible items. These manipulatives will benefit ALL learners in my room.
