My students are in 5th grade. They are into exploring, current events, using technology and K-State football! These amazing students are from diverse backgrounds. Over 28 different languages are spoken within my building. However, this opens a door for much learning and opportunities for teaching universal languages such as math and science. Yet, reading about these topics can be BORING. Using highly engaging non-fiction magazines and texts to keep student interest high is key for ESL (English as a Second Language) students.
