Going Back to Better After COVID

My Students

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I get to work with students K-6 who have disabilities effecting their communication. Many of my students are primarily working on the speech therapy you may think of like a lisp, an "r" sound or stuttering.

My students working on language goals have trouble telling others about their thoughts, wants, and experiences.

They often share incomplete ideas, use the wrong words or grammar, and miss important details. Language problems make reading, writing, and math harder. We work to improve their daily communication as well as skills needed for their academic progress.

My Project

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted my students' ability to interact with peers, teachers, and socially. The many games, books, and even mini objects will help them build their descriptive, narrative, and social communication skills, as well as helping build empathy and confidence.

Now more than ever, they need ways to make up for the time they lost telling, listening to, watching, and telling stories.

My students will love working together to build their own skills, and support each other in improving their ability to communicate. In-person learning is the ideal, and we are working hard to keep our students progressing with their stuttering, grammar, comprehension, and other communication skills.
