My Project

I am the Resource Special Education teacher for the K-3rd graders at IACS. What makes my kids amazing is their love of learning and their drive to keep going.

What comes easily for many doesn't come easily for my kids.

They have to work and try harder. Because they work so hard, I like to celebrate and reward the hard work they do. The kids really love and enjoy working for stickers on a sticker chart and then getting to go to the treasure chest. They look forward to seeing what new and exciting items they will find.

I would love to be able to fill the treasure chest with great things. It is important to have a choice of all different kinds of things for all the different kids and things they are motivated by.

Another skill set that often comes naturally to most which my kids have to really work at involves leisure skills such as playing with toys, especially together with peers. New, highly motivating toys would be a great gateway into that social skill. We have a few LEGO in the room and have found that they are a favorite. It would be great to have more so that we can help the students work on play skills, social skills, sharing, communication skills and give them something they enjoy doing after working so hard.

I am also asking for a few school supplies to help set up some of the reading, spelling, and other lessons I have found work with my group
