My Project

I want to create a new after-school co-ed indoor soccer program for our middle school students.

The hope is to have fun, stay active, be a good sport, and manage time and priorities.

Having Fun is - by far - the most important thing. Making new friends, running around, and playing is just plain fun. Students are unsure if they can be spectators to see how the game works and how the players interact. Soon, they will be itching to join the fun!

Youth sports offer an opportunity to move around, which helps build strength and endurance. In addition to the obvious physical benefits, staying active can help fight depression and anxiety. Developing an active lifestyle early means that there’s a better chance that kids maintain it in the long run.

Soccer, basketball, tennis, pickleball, and more - competition is part of the game. Students who participate in sports learn how to overcome adversity and cope when things don’t go their way. Being a good sport, both in athletics and life, is essential.

Participating in sports will allow our students to balance priorities. Over time, students will learn to prioritize homework assignments around their practice and game schedule. Students will be learning time-management skills without even realizing they are doing it.

Teamwork is an important life skill - and an essential part of team sports. Participation in sports allows our students to make lasting friendships, develop communication skills, feel a sense of community and learn to respect their teammates and coaches.
