My Project

"In special education, there's too much emphasis placed on the deficit and not enough on the strength" is my favorite quote by Temple Grandin. It has always been my goal and passion to provide each of my students with the ability to show the world what they are actually capable of despite their disabilities.

The dino eggs, owl pellets, rock hunt, giant inflatable solar system, butterfly growing kit robotics kit, and the other materials will give my students the opportunity to learn through many different attributes such as kinesthetic and visual learning.

Each item selected has been chosen to allow each student the chance to learn by using STEM activities. They will be learning how to be a paleontologist as they dig away at the dinosaur eggs, and learn about the digestive system as they pick through the owl pellets to discover what their owl has eaten. They will have actually hands-on care in learning about the life cycle of a butterfly as they watch each caterpillar grow and develop into a beautiful butterfly
