Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 8th grade Language Arts at the first and only middle and high military magnet school in the state of North Carolina. Our school is one of a kind and unique due to it's focus on JROTC. Also, most of the students are from low income households and are high risk.

We are a brand new school. We've only been in existence for two years. One of the challenges that we face is lack of supplies, such as novel sets.

My classroom is in desperate need of novel sets. Since we are a military school, I would like to teach novels with a military theme, such as Sunrise Over Fallujah by Walter Dean Myers, and a problem/solution theme, such as I Am the Cheese by Robert Cormier. My students would benefit from these novel sets because most of them come from low income households. They can't afford to purchase the novels themselves.

The students and myself would really appreciate this donation. Your help would ensure that every student will have a copy of the novels in order to successfully participate in the lessons.
