Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our graduation suite, students come not only to plan for the future but often to regroup, refocus, and find emotional support during challenging times. By providing soft, comfortable seating and warm, calming lighting, we aim to transform the space into a nurturing environment where students feel safe, seen, and supported.

Comfortable chairs will offer students a place to sit, reflect, and engage in meaningful conversations—whether they’re seeking guidance, celebrating progress, or working through obstacles.

These chairs will help reduce stress and anxiety by creating a more relaxed, inviting setting, rather than a cold or institutional one.

The lighting will be intentionally chosen to create a calm and peaceful atmosphere. Harsh fluorescent lights can increase stress or overstimulation, especially for students managing emotional or mental health challenges. In contrast, warm-toned lamps and gentle lighting will promote a sense of safety and calm, encouraging openness and trust.

Together, these elements will create a space that says: You belong here. You are supported. And your future matters.
