My Project

My gifted students are natural innovators. They are constantly asking questions, designing solutions, building creations, and imagining new possibilities. They love challenges that allow them to think outside the box, collaborate with classmates, and bring their ideas to life.

This project will transform our classroom into a Glow STEAM Innovation Lab where students will explore coding, robotics, engineering, art, and design through hands-on experiences.

Using Dash robots, Sphero robots, glow-in-the-dark materials, and engineering supplies, students will create Halloween-themed coding challenges, build glowing mazes, design robot costumes, and program robots to complete missions and collect treats. As the season changes, students will transition into Thanksgiving engineering challenges by designing and constructing parade floats inspired by the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and coding robots to guide their creations through a classroom parade route.

My students learn best when they are actively creating, testing, and improving their ideas.

These materials will allow them to think like engineers as they design obstacle courses, measure distances, collect data, solve problems, and revise their work. They will use creativity to build floats, costumes, and structures while also developing valuable coding and computational thinking skills. The glow-in-the-dark environment will add excitement and engagement, turning learning into an unforgettable experience.

Through these activities, students will strengthen collaboration, communication, perseverance, and critical thinking skills. They will discover that mistakes are part of the design process and that innovation happens through creativity, teamwork, and determination.
