Help me give my students a light table so we can further explore our curiosity about science and extend our learning in math, literacy, and writing.

My students are 4 and 5 year olds. I love my students because they are so curious to learn and want to soak up everything. They love to learn through play in the exploration areas of math, science, writing, reading, block play, to make- believe play, sensory play and the arts. At the same time, they are also developing social and emotional skills to share, take turns and be part of a community, as well as be independent. Their own self-interests are what makes them unique and special.
One student said, "I don't want to go home.
I want to stay at school and play, Ms. Xiong."
The light table will make a big and bright difference in my pre-k students' learning. The glow of the light table will naturally draw students attention because it will be a differentiated way of learning for students as they extend their learning in math, reading, and writing with related manipulatives.
In addition, students will naturally stay longer at the light table because they think it is super cool and awesome, thus increasing their exploration and deepening their learning connections.
For example, math manipulatives like a variety of colored chips can be on the light table, and students can sort them in different ways, stack them, add more, take away, and see the glow of the light shine through the chips. Furthermore, students get to practice oral language skills by naming the colored chips and sharing their observations of what they have observed. For example, "I see red. I see yellow, Red and yellow together make orange." Thus, students are meeting learning targets given the opportunity with the light table in our classroom.
