Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I have a class full of energetic, enthusiastic, and amazing students! Our school is a Title I school where most students come from low-income or poverty-stricken homes or may live in a motel. All of the students receive free lunch. Most are English Language Learners, while some have special needs. These students come to school eager to learn every day with big smiles on their faces, regardless of their circumstances!

The end of the school year is fast approaching, and these kids have worked very hard and have made incredible progress!

I am so proud of them and want to do something extra special, something they have never had the privilege of enjoying -- a Glow Party!

Many students may have a hard time transitioning at the end of the year; therefore, I try to make the last 10 days of school super fun and special. We pop a balloon each of those mornings and inside is a note as to what special event will happen that day. It might be extra recess, paper airplane day or write with a pen day. This year I want to add a Glow Party. We will have balloons, decorations, and glow sticks using the black lights to make them “glow in the dark.” We will have music and dancing with only the glow from the sticks and decorations. I hope you can help with this event and make this dream come true!
