Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Everyone has a story to tell and my class tells a unique one. My students come from a diverse and difficult background that can sometimes make it very difficult to come to school and learn. The daily dedication of my students continues to blow me away. Each student that comes into my classroom becomes part of a family. As a family, we develop a bond that lasts far beyond the school year. We operate as a family and treat one another as family. If someone falls down, we gather around to lift them up.
We are a group of children with an unquenchable thirst to learn.
Every student counts and every moment matters. It is our mission to ensure that not a moment is wasted. We are the Lions! HEAR US ROAR!
My Project
The students will review our 3rd grade math essential standards while participating in their first ever Glow Games! Our classrooms will transform into a universe of neon colors and black lights as we practice previously taught math skills!
Engaging students in the Glow Games will motivate them to participate in our math review activities!
Can you think of a better way to review? Students will move from station to station as they wear neon hats and participate in STEM based activities all while "glowing." The classroom will be glowing with the black lights, multicolored strip lights and a disco light from the project. At each station, students will be working on our 3rd grade math essential standards. However, they will be doing it in a slightly different way. It may be while using the spinner to create fractions and probability word problems or building and playing Jenga (that is covered with reflective tape) to solve multiplication facts. During each station, every student will be required to answer every question making sure each student is held accountable. This day will create excitement as well as learning. My teaching partner and I can't wait to see it unfold!
