it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a school-based occupational therapist working in Miami, FL, I work with many students who require intervention to improve their fine motor, visual motor, and visual perceptual abilities. These students struggle with handwriting abilities, self care skills, and overall lack of coordination when engaging in age-appropriate tasks.
Receiving my first very generous fine motor donation a few months ago changed my students' lives.
They cannot contain their excitement to play with new games and puzzles. However, they have been so excited to play with these items, that I would like to continue in providing for similar items to continue to peak their interest in therapeutic fine motor tasks. My students have really enjoyed completing tasks requiring tweezers, small items, bright character displays, and tasks that challenge their perceptual skills.
My Project
This project serves to continue my students' current interest in promoting and challenging their fine motor and visual perceptual skills via fun games and puzzles. These games will also afford my students, who come to therapy in a group, to work on their turn taking and sportsmanship abilities.
It is imperative that children continuously work to improve their fine motor and visual perceptual skills in order to achieve improve school performance.
These skills can be made both fun and functional with the use of games and other enjoyable activities. The games presented in this project promote turn taking, sportsmanship, matching abilities, visual member, problem solving, and simultaneously presents fine motor challenges for my students to overcome. My students love puzzles and every time they see a completed puzzle they are filled with joy and accomplishment. I hope you will help in giving my students the ability to enjoy promoting their fine motor and visual perceptual skills in a fun way!
