My Students

It's a small, small world. Today's students will need to navigate through a melting pot of cultures in our global world. They will need to realize that each culture is unique and has something to contribute to making our world a better place, and that we live in a small world after all.

Our school is unique in that we are the only entire multiple age classroom school in our district.

Our 408 students are in K-1, 2-3, or 4-5 classes. Our school has become more diverse over the past years. Every year our school community celebrates this with a cultural night where foods and activities are shared. We have been recognized as one of a handful of "Green" schools in our district. We compost lunch waste. We built a school garden where we harvest vegetables each fall. Our students also give back to the community with their annual coin and food drives. We encourage students to work together as we achieve these goals.

My Project

We live in a multicultural society and we strive on a daily basis to educate our students to celebrate their own cultures as well as embracing those of the their classmates. The book sets that I have requested for our school library will inspire students to continue to be proud of who they are and others around them. The environmental books would be a wonderful resource as we continue to share with our students that being green is an important legacy that they can leave future generations. The set of biography books are student centered and support the gifts that were left by those who have come before us.

Our school strives to be on the cutting edge of innovative and new ventures.

These sets of books will allow us to expand the excellent job that we already do in preparing our students to be understanding and caring about our global environment. Our students will realize that it is a small, small world and that they can make a positive difference by their actions.
