This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Sports are an outlet for many of today's youth, especially in an urban setting. Your help with providing for underprivileged student-athletes would be a major step. Our students come from an inner-city urban setting and have had little to no ways to purchase some of the necessities of the game due to the high costs associated with football.
We are working to rebuild the football program and give student athletes the tools for training needed to compete in highly competitive high school athletics.
These are highly motivated student-athletes that want to increase their skills, improve safety, learn responsibility and compete at a high level.
My Project
Safety and training are critical in all sports but especially for football. A single piece of equipment allows student-athletes to take their game to the next level. Learning how to train their bodies in order to perform the rigorous activities associated with the game of football is crucial for development. Student-athletes will also learn safety procedures and proper techniques to minimize injuries.
Our student-athletes will have the ability to train and be safely equipped.
For this project, we have requested footballs, agility ladders and helmet covers for practice and game usage. The helmet pump and hardware kit are needed to maximize player protection and provide much-needed safety so they can be properly equipped while on the field. Teaching responsibility is a high priority as well and each student-athlete is responsible for protecting themselves throughout their season.
