This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kate DiCamillo, a famous Children's Books writer once said "Reading should not be presented to children as a chore, a duty. It should be offered as a gift". Our school is a Title I school, which is basically a high poverty area. I have a group of amazing 3rd graders. They enjoy reading but their parents cannot afford to buy books for their kids. Even our school library is full of old and outdated books that my kids don't feel the desire to read.

I really wish they could have access to age appropriate and high interest books.

If you could help me have a well balanced classroom library, I could lend great books to my students that they could take home and joyfully read. Their love for reading would be even greater. Reading, will open a new world of opportunities for them now and in the future. Please help me give these kids the gist of reading great books!

My Project

I want my classroom library to be a home for avid readers. A place where students can enjoy reading and have the opportunity to learn new things, to travel around the world through a book, to meet people that they admire, to open their doors to new experiences.

This can only happen with a large and well balanced classroom library where they can get books they really want to read.

It will help my students be better readers and more independent learners. I just want my kids to have a better chance to succeeding in life and reading will really give them a better chance to do it.
