Giving Students Choice: Multicultural Book Clubs Part 2
Help me give my students the opportunity to explore literature that offers new perspectives, ideas, cultures, and diversity. Through the addition of these novels, students will be able to participate in literature book clubs and discuss social issues!
My students are thoughtful, empathetic and critical thinkers. Through the study of social justice issues, my students are becoming global citizens by engaging with each other through technology, discussions, and writing.
My students come to my class every day ready to ask and answer hard questions, discuss uncomfortable topics to grow, and think critically about how what they do matters!
Through literature, technology, and collaborative working students enter the classroom ready to work, discuss, and grow together through meaningful literature and inclusive discussions.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning by providing them with the necessary materials to explore various social issues and learn about new and different cultures.
Through multiple lenses, students will work collaboratively in small groups to discuss social issues facing diverse populations in our world!
They will read books together, discuss main ideas and the issues present, and create solutions to different problems presented in the literature.
Through choice reading, students are able to select a book that appeals to them, giving ownership of their learning. Choice reading allows students to find JOY in reading again, while simultaneously discussing important, real-world issues that connect to our current curriculum.
Help make this dream a reality and get some awesome books into the hands of my students!
