Our school has 650 students from kindergarten through fifth grade. We have a diverse group of students with different cultures, economic backgrounds, learning capabilities, styles, and interests! My students love to explore, be creative, gain more knowledge, and, most importantly, read!
The wonderful part of my job is teaching all 650 students weekly.
The library is like a home and is inviting to my students; however, it is in desperate need of new books. I have a small budget, and I am trying to provide the best books for my kids! The door is always open for kids to check out books. The kids are excited to come to the library and eager to read.
My Project
This is my second year as the librarian of my 22-year-old library. My analysis for my collection shows that my fiction has an average age of 2004. My students love to read; however, I do not have a collection that is current.
My students choose their books based on what they love.
My students love James Patterson's books! My students are able to read these books for their reading logs and book clubs. We currently have a few books in the Middle School Series from James Patterson; unfortunately, we do not have the whole series, and they are not in order. My students want to read them in order. I would love to introduce my students to other books written by James Patterson.
The books on my list will not all be novels. James Patterson also writes picture books. I would love to introduce my students to his picture books.
