Giving Students a Voice

Help me give my students AAC devices to communicate their wants and needs.

My Project

These iPads will be used as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices. An AAC device aids nonverbal students with their speech. Having multiple devices will allow students to practice and use their devices in every setting. The iPads will provide an electronic version that can be easily adjusted as their wants and needs change. These will replace the paper copies that are often missing cards, get lost or destroyed.

My goal is to provide each student with their own individualized AAC device allowing them to be customized with the specific needs and wants that are often requested.

My students are the absolute best. Each day, they walk into our classroom with big smiles on their faces ready to learn. Their growth throughout the year thus far has shown how determined they are to break any expectations. Each day they show how nothing is impossible, it just hasn't happened yet.
