Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

In our class , we build a community around teamwork. I teach two cohorts of STEM ( science, technology, engineering and math)

We value the power for math and science centers and small groups.

My school is a charter school that serves a low-income community. The students who enter my classroom are already behind their more affluent peers in math and science. The students and parents are enthusiastic about learning and I want to continue to foster that love for them. With a longer school day, longer school year, and strategic planning, my students will make significant gains to leave second above grade level.

My Project

We have been virtual learning since March of 2020. With COVID on the rise it looks like our return to in person may be delayed until next school year.

With the unexpected expenses of PPE, and our school district already operating on a tight budget.

I want to make sure students and myself are as safe as possible when we return to school. In a building that's over 50 years old and wonky heating and cooling systems. I want to make sure we are breathing the cleanest air possible .
