Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 2nd-grade students are unique, diverse learners. Throughout the year we set goals, work hard, and celebrate accomplishments together. One of the great things about my class is that we loop together to third grade, so we will get to do it all again together next year! As I watch them learn, I am always impressed by the skills they gain, and I wonder how they will use them in the future.

My students will certainly be using technology in their every day lives and careers, and although they are growing up with technology all around them, most of them come from low-income families, where access to this technology isn't always available.

This gives them quite the appetite for digital learning, but not always the tools they need.

My Project

My second-graders are already immersed in the world of technology. We use computers for skills like learning how to type and code. We also use the internet to research and Google slides to present the things we've learned. Additionally, we use a variety of programs to practice our reading skills and math facts, write stories, and demonstrate our learning on computer-based assessments. I am fortunate that my students have all these avenues to be able to tap into different ways to learn and engage in their own learning.

The world of digital learning is exciting and fun, and having headphones will ensure that every student can stay focused on their work while experiencing all that technology has to offer.
