I am a first-grade teacher whose students need engaging and effective books to put in their hands and practice the many phonics skills they learn each day! These decodable books will fill our classroom library, giving my students access to exciting and engaging books written to target young readers at all levels - from the beginning of first grade until the end of the year.
Many of the books requested in this order are written and designed specifically to support students who struggle with dyslexia.
Many students who struggle with dyslexia are not identified as early as first grade. It is so vital for my students to have such books available in our classroom for those who may have this reading challenge. These books will be an integral part of our small group reading time, where I can offer extra support for struggling readers and help reinforce newly learned phonics skills.
The Frog and Toad class set will enhance students' literacy by providing an age-appropriate way to learn literacy skills alongside science and social-emotional learning through whole-class teacher-led read-aloud time. All the decodable readers I am requesting are perfectly leveled and aligned to target the skills that first graders learn throughout the year.
Please help my students discover the joy of reading by donating to this project and putting these engaging and targeted books in their little hands. My students deserve colorful, science-backed books to practice in each day - rather than the dull black-and-white printouts that they often use due to lack of funding in our community. The life-long love of reading and confidence in their new abilities that these books will provide will be well worth the cost of this project!
