My Project

Nearly 20% of the students in our community come from families where a language other than English is spoken in the home.

Because we are so lucky to have so many students at our school who speak Spanish at home, we want to help them become not only bilingual, but truly biliterate, or the ability to read and write in more than one language.

This year we have started a bilingual/bicultural program. Students in this program receive reading and writing instruction everyday in both English and Spanish. Because the program is new we are still in need of many resources, like a bilingual rug and books in Spanish, to help teach Spanish literacy.
