My Project

At the end of the semester, my Women’s Studies students bring their learning to life through a hands-on final project: each student creates a handmade zine. Zines are small, self-published booklets that combine writing, art, research, and personal expression. This project allows students to transform the ideas we explore throughout the semester into something creative, thoughtful, and uniquely their own.

To make this project possible, I am requesting cardstock in multiple colors, Sharpie markers, colored paper, stickers, glitter, construction paper, and other basic craft materials.

With a large number of students enrolled in my classes, supplies are used quickly. Having a well-stocked supply of materials ensures that every student can participate fully, regardless of what art supplies they may have access to outside the classroom.

Students choose what they want to communicate, how they want to communicate it, and which course concepts they want to highlight. They may combine written reflections, quotations, illustrations, collage, typography, and other visual elements to create a final product that demonstrates their understanding of Women’s Studies.

These supplies are much more than craft materials. They are tools that allow students to demonstrate learning in a creative, hands-on way. After a semester of reading, discussing, questioning, and analyzing, students use their zines to synthesize their experiences into a tangible final project. The variety of colors, textures, markers, stickers, and other materials gives students the freedom to make creative choices and develop projects that reflect their individual perspectives.

Your support will help ensure that every student has the materials needed to participate in this culminating experience. By providing these supplies, you will help my students turn their ideas into something they can hold in their hands and be proud of creating.

Thank you for supporting creative, student-centered learning and helping my students make their voices—and their learning—visible!
