My Project

These books will continue to enhance the print-rich, 2nd grade ICT classroom that my co-teacher and I strive to create. Our classroom library is a place that our students love to look for new books to read. However, our current library has very few chapter books to choose from and students are only scheduled to visit our school library once a month. Every student book that is placed in our class library is treated with love and care, and my students are thankful for the opportunities to read. These book series have been chosen with students in mind. I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy reading in school and outside of school.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.

Students will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help our students grow stronger in reading. As a second-grade class, we recently started a class bookworm project. Students are encouraged to read as many books as they can. As they finish these books, they will put their name and the title of the book(s) read on a circle to add to our growing bookworm. Having these books would allow students the opportunity to read what is enjoyable to them.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
