Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Mornings are especially hard for this night-owl teacher; yet every day, my students know just how to make me smile as they greet me with their wide eyes and bright smiles. As I walk down the busy hallways, I see both old and new faces eagerly making their way to their classrooms.

These children are among the most resilient group of children I have ever worked with.

They always find a way to rise above their troubles and come to school with a smile on their face, ready to face the challenges of the new day.

My students are a group of energetic, caring, and inquisitive little minds. They are primarily Spanish speaking and many of them come from immigrant families working in the agricultural fields of Central California.

My Project

Keeping our desks and cubbies neat is an ongoing struggle. Kindergarteners have the double task of learning curriculum and life skills, like organizing and cleanliness. As more and more students are learning to read, we encourage students to keep a selection of books with them to read during our independent reading time and after completing other tasks.

Students love having tools that help us with our learning; these book bags will be a fun way to keep our desks clean and organized.

We currently use Ziploc bags to store our books, however, these bags are not sturdy enough for 6-year-old students. The Lakeshore books bags durability will ensure that I can continue to use them for many years to come. We appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity in supporting our project!
