Help me give my students an iPad and Otterbox protector so they may access i-Ready apps, especially World's Worst Pet which complements i-Ready online and teacher-led instruction, and focuses on developing an understanding of Tier Two vocabulary
My students are learning to acquire the English language. They are students whose first language is not English. I teach approximately fifty students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. There are many non-English speakers whose first language is Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, Mam, Kiche or Quiche, Chinese, Polish, or Vietnamese. My students are learning not only to speak, listen, read, and write in English, but all aspects of American culture. They are doing this while maintaining their own language and culture--we ensure it is alive and thriving. Valuing what they bring to us is a very important part of our classroom community. My students are the most wonderful, willing, loving students one could ask for and are eager to learn, each and every day!
My Project
The iPad and its Otterbox protector will allow English Language Learners access to iPad not only i-Ready apps but others that will focus on the skills that are most essential for achievement in Reading as well as Mathematics and then produce the power of a fun game to motivate students to develop those skills. The iPad and Otterbox protector will allow my students to access i-Ready's app World's Worst Pet. This app focuses on developing an understanding of Tier Two vocabulary words. This development is an integral part of cultivating our students' abilities to read and understand the complex text in English.
